Job Description: Solar Design Engineer
As a Design Engineer specializing in solar EPC electrical, you will play a crucial role in the design and engineering of electrical systems for solar power projects. Working closely with our project management and engineering teams, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, from concept to commissioning.
Responsibilities:
System Design and Engineering: Design electrical systems for solar PV projects, including layout design, cable sizing, equipment selection, and electrical schematics. Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and industry best practices.
Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents for electrical components and systems. Review and interpret construction drawings and specifications to support project execution.
Equipment Procurement Support: Collaborate with the procurement team to select and procure electrical equipment, such as inverters, transformers, switchgear, and cables. Evaluate supplier proposals and technical specifications to ensure compatibility and quality.
Interdisciplinary Coordination: Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and structural engineers to integrate electrical designs into overall project plans. Address interdisciplinary design challenges and ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other project components.
Quality Assurance and Compliance: Conduct quality checks and inspections to verify the integrity and functionality of electrical installations. Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, safety standards, and project specifications.
Technical Support: Provide technical support to project managers, site engineers, and construction teams during project execution. Resolve technical issues, deviations, and design changes in a timely and efficient manner.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in solar PV and electrical engineering. Identify opportunities for process improvement, optimization, and innovation in design methodologies.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Proven experience of 3-8 years in electrical design and engineering, with a focus on solar EPC projects.
Proficiency in electrical design software such as PVsyst, AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, or equivalent.
Strong understanding of electrical principles, power systems, and solar PV technology.
Familiarity with relevant codes and standards such as NEC, IEEE, IEC, and local electrical regulations.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
Self-motivated and proactive, with a passion for renewable energy and sustainability.
Willingness to travel to project sites and occasionally work in challenging outdoor environments
